Shortly after the War Between the States, a group of dedicated Baptists organized for the purpose of starting a Baptist church in Union, Tennessee (Now Bluff City, TN). At this time, the Methodists and Presbyterians had an active membership in this small community and those of Baptist faith recognized the need for a place to meet and worship.
